Ok, it’s official, we signed up for the Jazz half! We already had our room booked, how backwards are we? I knew we had to sign up by the end of the month before the price went up. I didn’t want to be one of those people who says they are going to sign up, makes all these plans, then actually forgets to do it!

Since I will be living with my parents it will be so easy to just make the drive over the day before the race, they are only about 40 minutes away. I am crossing my fingers for cool temps, I hate running long distances in the heat!

I am excited about this race because it is an out and back (no taking school busses from the end back to the superdome to walk to our hotel!) and, its a super flat and fast course, and it starts early enough that it should be nice weather. My question is, it’s on October 30, day before Halloween obviously, any easy costume ideas for me? I will of course be wearing a running skirt!

You can sign up for this race still if you want to run! just go to the Jazz Half website and sign up on active.com or by mailing in your form. This race benefits the children’s hospital, so it’s for a good cause! Sign up is $60 dollars until the end of September and you get a gender specific (score!) tech shirt and a medal! Come join the fun, I would love to see you there!

In running news, I ran for a little over an hour on the treadmill today, and while I was stretching after I noticed the blood from my sock the other day had gone through to my relatively new shoes. Gah! Any ideas on how to get it out? Tide to go stick? I must admit, it makes me feel a little hardcore to have a bloody shoe! 😛 I know it’s hard to see but on the top and bottom of the solid grey in the middle of the pic there are blood stains.

I switched around last week and this week in my training because last week was a hard week and this week is a cutbak week, but since I did PLENTY of cutting back on vacation, I swapped the two so this week would be harder. with my mileage today and if I do my whole 10 mile long run Saturday, I will have hit 25 miles for the week. I know that’s small potatoes for most, but for this used to be sprinter, that’s an accomplishment!
