I WILL BE A MARATHONER!!! AAAHHH!
I can’t believe it is finally here! We leave in 4 days for Disney, and I feel so unprepared/excited/anxious/nervous all at once! To top off my nerves, I just found out the Saints playoff game is Saturday night, the night before the race. Yup! Not only did I freak out and hurry and change my 5:30 dining reservations so I won’t miss the name, but now I know I won’t get much sleep the night before the race!
A few housekeeping items today. If you would like to follow my progress during the race, you can opt to get FREE texts or emails by going HERE. It’s easy to sign up! enter in my full name, HEATHER MONTGOMERY and you can follow me!
You can also follow me on twitter or join either of my facebook fan pages on my RIGHT toolbar. I will be tweeting and posting pictures on FB and twitter during the trip, after the race, before the race, etc. So that is a good way to keep up with me over the course of my trip!
Also, don’t forget, I am a travel agent! I booked mainly Disney and Universal, but I do other things and cruises, too so just ask! My services are free to you! Contact me at heather@travelwiththemagic.com for a free no obligation quote.
and now, for a couple of flashback pictures from last year’s race!
QOTD: Do you have any race goals for the year? Run a 5k? Get a new PR?

I’ll be running my first marathon this year too! but not until May. My dad ran the Disney full in 07. Good luck at Disney!! I’m sure you’ll kill it =)

thanks so much, and GL with your training!
January 2, 2011 at 7:17 pm
So excited for you! Remember, it’s the sleep the night before the day before an event that counts. You wouldn’t sleep much the night before the race anyway, especially considering that 3:30 am wake up call!
January 2, 2011 at 8:32 pm
good call, we will try to get good sleep 2 nights before!
we will be getting up at 3, last call for getting on a bus is 4. ug!
January 2, 2011 at 7:25 pm
Me too! I hope I run into you! I’ll be there for the half marathon too because my husband is running it. Good luck!!! 🙂
January 2, 2011 at 8:33 pm
I think some bloggers are going to meet up at the B tent at 4:05-4:10 for pics if you want to meet up with us for the full!
January 2, 2011 at 7:29 pm
Have fun! Every year I make plans to run more, this year I’m just going to go with it, no pressure. We’ll see how it goes.
January 2, 2011 at 8:33 pm
good for you! I hope going with it means running! 🙂
January 2, 2011 at 7:30 pm
Good luck!!!!!
January 2, 2011 at 8:33 pm

Was it bad last year? When I ran the Princess half they talked about how horrible the weather conditions were for your race last year… ALSO, I am running my SECOND half next MONTH with the Disney Princess Half!
January 2, 2011 at 8:35 pm
YES it was in the low 20’s and sleeting/freezing rain. then it just turned to rain so my body and feet were soaked and it made it that much colder!
have fun doing princess, one year I will run that! I have mardi gras RnR feb 13, just a month and a couple days after the full. Hope I am ready for it!
January 2, 2011 at 8:35 pm
good luck at the race!!!!! there’s seriously nothing else that feels as good as crossing that finish line. you will remember that moment forever!
January 2, 2011 at 9:01 pm
I know I will be crying hysterically!
January 3, 2011 at 11:13 am
they hand out tissues right after the finish line! Make sure you put on your sunglasses before you hit mile 26 so you don’t look like a hot mess in your finish line photo. 😉 rofl
January 3, 2011 at 1:48 pm
haha! I’m not taking sunglasses since I will have a hat on. I will just have to suffer through!

I’ve been following your progress Heather and can relate to your struggles. I turned 40 last year and met my goal of three 1/2 marathons, but my dream of a sub 2 hour was lost when my knee went bad during my second 1/2. I finished all three, but my current PR at the Disneyland 1/2 of 2:17 stands for now. I had an MRI which came back clear, got a band for my knee and finally hit the pavement again this past week pain free! Ran 3 on Tuesday, 4 on Friday and 6 today! Whoo hoo! My goal for 2011 is to get a new 1/2 marathon PR and to run my first full just like you! I am aiming for the LA Marathon in March. Check my progress via facebook. I have registered to get your split time updates and know you will finish strong! Hopefully the Florida weather is better this time! xoxo Tiffany

thanks so much for sharing! I am so glad you are able to run pain free now and hope you get to meet your goals! I would LOVE to run a sub 2 one day. I know it won’t be this year but maybe next year! Good luck in your training!
January 2, 2011 at 9:38 pm
That’s so awesome! This year I’d like to run a 5k (and not miss it) and a half-marathon too! 🙂
January 2, 2011 at 9:50 pm
Good luck, you can do it!
January 2, 2011 at 10:17 pm
I was nervous this morning thinking about the race…but now? Everyone is posting all of these blogs posts and it’s making it worse! (Don’t worry…I’m currently trying to write mine as well haha) Just think…one week from now we will be Marathoners!! *deep breath*
January 3, 2011 at 9:21 am
haha! I am trying to put a positive spin on it and not psych myself out!
January 3, 2011 at 3:29 am
AHHHHH I love the excitement right before a first marathon 🙂 so fun!
January 3, 2011 at 9:22 am
excitement or state of being petrified! hehe. I know it will be ok, I actually love this feeling. This is how I would get ebfore vball or bbball or track meets in HS.
January 3, 2011 at 3:43 am
Your first full marathon! 🙂 Woohoo! 🙂 You’ll have a blast, I’m sure! 🙂
January 3, 2011 at 9:22 am
I hope so thanks!
January 3, 2011 at 6:54 am
i hear ya about the Saints game! Usually the Pats are always playing that Saturday night so i always miss part of the game. In all honesty, you prob won’t sleep much that night anyway. But as long as you are resting, just keep your eyes closed, that’s what i always do if i can’t sleep the night before a race. We’ll be going to the expo sometime on Thursday, maybe i’ll spot you guys somewhere 🙂
January 3, 2011 at 9:23 am
we wont be there till Friday 😦 I am picking my husband upa fter work thursday and we are driving halfway and then coming in around lunch Friday!
January 3, 2011 at 10:33 am
Good luck this weekend! Try to sleep as much as you can during the week in case you don’t get much the night before the race. You’ll do great!
P.S. Go Saints!
January 3, 2011 at 1:47 pm
I have been trying to go to bed early but its been hard for some reason!
yay saints!
January 3, 2011 at 11:09 am
Have a great race! My race goals are to do another full this year. Also a half pr would be nice! Maybe a 5k pr too… guess a training plan is in order!
Although, I think my main goal is to not gain weight since I am working again. Sitting around instead of chasing the baby is death to my fitness. Lol
January 3, 2011 at 1:48 pm
good luck! go figure out your training plan!
January 3, 2011 at 11:54 am
I’m running my first half marathon this year. Excited and terrified! Good luck on your marathon!
January 3, 2011 at 1:49 pm
dont be terrified! you will have so much fun then say “what was I worried for?”
